A day in the life of Reflections' Managing Director

  • Reflections Hair

Clare Barrett is Managing Director of Reflections Hair Group and daughter of owner and founding Chairman Clive Barrett. With 13 Salons and 2 Academies to run, its fair to say that Clare is a busy person. We caught up with her to find out how she juggles the work/life balance.

I get up at… 7am each morning – normally with a pile of scruffily written notes I have made during the night to tackle during the day to come.

My breakfast is… I don’t eat breakfast, I know that is not great but I would rather save calories for later in the day!

My work wardrobe consists of… a real variety of outfits. When attending meetings I wear mainly black and ensure I am dressed for business. When working from home I do still ensure I am smartly dressed as it makes me feel motivated, but I do enjoy wearing my trainers!

My job entails… My job is incredibly varied and I never really know what each week will bring. Managing a company with over 180 team members across 13 salons and 2 Training Academies keeps me on my toes! The fast pace and variation in challenges thrown at me keeps me continually motivated and loving my job.

How I got here… I predominantly started from a business management and marketing background and joined the company in 1999. As Reflections is our family business, it seemed a natural progression for me to work alongside my father for 10 years and eventually progress to the front facing position of Company Managing Director where I have been ever since.

The best piece of advice I was given… Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts…. Oh and I always loved…. Work Hard, Play Hard!

Best part of my working day… Getting up each morning and starting the day ahead.

After work I… Look forward to spending time with my family, friends and enjoying my homelife.
