We are super-proud to announce that we have another Color Expert on the Team…..Kate! Our fabulous Group Technical Director and Senior Creative Director at Yate South.
The “Color Expert” title is Wella’s highest accreditation in Colour (and is the equivalent of a 12-month intensive Masters degree in Colouring) and makes Kate one of the Team’s highest authorities on colour that colleagues and clients can rely on in salon.
Kate (who has previously completed multiple Wella Colour Craft courses in preparation) enjoyed a perfect blend of hands-on in studio courses and online training. It included in-depth science to the structure of hair strands and examined how different colours effect it, how diet effects hair, hair growth/loss and how the hair becomes grey. It gave her extensive knowledge of colour and structure of the hair and a great understanding of colour correction from how and why certain colours are used to expertise in what is achievable without compromising condition.
This intensive course was divided into 4 stages, including 12 days at the Wella World Studio in London, a timed exam that takes place in the second stage with a minimum pass rate in order to continue with stages 3 & 4. Kate was assessed throughout all stages of the course including practical days working alongside guest artists for inspiration and colour techniques. The final practical exam needs a score of 80% or more to be awarded with the title ‘Master Color Expert’ and we are thrilled to say Kate absolutely smashed it!

The studio itself is a cool place to be - you never know which hair icons you may bump into! It has really changed the way I view colour and my understanding of the way clients see colour. I feel so much more confident in my colour choices, not only because they will look great but because it’s the best choice for my client’s hair condition and lifestyle. This program has made me more aware that it is our job as Stylists to educate clients on the best choice for them and share our knowledge as to why. I cant wait to pass on this knowledge on to my colleagues at Reflections through my role as Group Technical Director”
